Energy Regulatory Attorney – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations for a leading global energy company. The position is fully remote and operates on a contract basis, offering the opportunity to influence high‑stakes regulatory proceedings and policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with federal and state energy laws, including FERC regulations, state public utility commission rules, and environmental standards.
• Draft, review, and file regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to identify legal risks and formulate strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry stakeholders, and policy groups to advocate for favorable outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and provide timely updates to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, with a preference for candidates experienced in energy regulation.
• Proven experience handling energy law matters, including familiarity with FERC and state utility regulations.
• Strong analytical and written communication abilities.
