Emergency Medicine Physician (Part‑time/Full‑time)

About the role

West Coast General Hospital is seeking qualified Emergency Medicine Physicians for part‑time and full‑time positions. The role includes providing acute care in a modern 52‑bed facility with a 3‑bed ICU and the option to cover occasional shifts at the regional Emergency Department in Nanaimo.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 24‑hour emergency care to a diverse patient population.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across anesthesiology, surgery, psychiatry, internal medicine, pediatrics and radiology.
• Participate in academic activities through affiliation with the University of British Columbia postgraduate and Island Medical School undergraduate programs.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to provincial medical standards.

Required profile

• Board‑certified Emergency Medicine physician (CPSBC USA registration accepted).
• Eligibility to practice in British Columbia.
• Willingness to start as soon as possible.

• Fee‑for‑service compensation model.
• Potential additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement, including a 7.98% retention premium and a $12,367 retention flat fee.
