Emergency Medicine Physician – Full‑time

About the role

Kelowna General Hospital is seeking qualified Emergency Medicine physicians for multiple permanent full‑time positions (start date negotiable, ideally July 2026) and locum assignments ranging from 2 weeks to 12 months. The role offers a vibrant, collegial environment with a strong academic focus.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care in a high‑volume ED (≈84,000 visits/year).
• Manage trauma, cardiac critical care, stroke, and complex medical presentations.
• Participate in teaching activities such as bedside instruction, simulation, Grand Rounds, and journal clubs.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC or equivalent).
• Willingness to work approximately 14 shifts per month (≈8 hours each) with flexibility for additional shifts.
• Interest in academic medicine and mentorship of residents.
• Commitment to a collegial, team‑oriented culture.

Required skills

• Experience with ECMO and advanced cardiac critical care procedures.
• Proficiency in point‑of‑care ultrasound.
• Competence in trauma resuscitation.
