Electronics/Optoelectronics Technician

About the role

Excelitas Technologies, a global technology leader in photonic solutions, is looking for an Electronics/Optoelectronics Technician to join its Process Group in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. The technician provides technical support for the electrical and optical testing processes used at various stages of manufacturing photodiodes and other detectors, working in a cleanroom with equipment designed to test high-performance devices. The role also involves leading process improvement projects and developing new testing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support electrical and optical testing at wafer and chip prober, custom test jig, database and custom software levels
• Establish and maintain a safe, clean and orderly working environment
• Understand the processes affecting electrical test yield (wafer fabrication, chip processing, assembly) to guide troubleshooting
• Set up automatic process control (SPC) and document processes, work orders and electrical test criteria
• Train and support production staff and report process issues and equipment failures with corrective and preventive actions
• Take part in process development, qualification and transfer to production, and in selecting and qualifying new equipment
• Promote the Lean-Six Sigma methodology and follow the company's documentation, quality and NPI processes

Required profile

• Diploma (DEC) in physics engineering, microelectronics or equivalent
• At least five years of experience in electronics or photodiode testing
• Fluency in spoken and written French and strong English communication skills
• Ability to run experiments, analyse results and present them, with a high sense of responsibility and teamwork

Required skills

• Knowledge of electronics or electrical testing processes
• Programming languages and development environments such as LabVIEW and VB.NET
• Lean-Six Sigma and statistical process control (Green Belt certification) are an asset
