Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) – Ottawa

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training to support the design and delivery of building electrical systems in Ottawa. You will work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, gaining experience from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems and develop AutoCAD and Revit drawings.
• Prepare schematics, riser diagrams, perform lighting calculations and ensure code compliance (OBC, OESC, ASHRAE, IES).
• Participate in client meetings, site reviews, and construction coordination, including shop drawing reviews and RFIs.
• Collaborate with mechanical, architectural, and structural disciplines and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered or working toward registration as an Engineer-in-Training.
• 2–5 years of experience in an engineering consulting environment.
• Bilingual English/French considered an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience is an asset).
• Ability to perform lighting calculations and equipment sizing.
• Knowledge of OBC, OESC, ASHRAE, and IES codes and standards.
