Educator, Holocaust Survivors Memoirs Program

About the role

The Educator will join the Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program to develop and deliver curriculum resources that bring survivors’ stories into Canadian classrooms. Reporting to the Manager of Education Initiatives, the role supports teachers across provinces with lesson plans, training and ongoing guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and produce educational materials, lesson plans and supplemental resources aligned with the program’s published memoirs.
• Evaluate resources for classroom feasibility and adapt them to provincial curriculum requirements.
• Collaborate with teachers, school boards and other stakeholders through regular meetings and communication.
• Deliver province‑specific teacher training and professional‑development events, both in‑person and virtually.
• Provide individualized coaching to teachers and foster interest in Holocaust education.
• Contribute to the creation of learning opportunities for pre‑service teachers.
• Perform administrative duties and travel across Canada as needed.

Required profile

• Degree in teaching or a relevant subject with a teaching certificate.
• Proven experience as a middle‑school classroom teacher.
• Bilingual ability (French/English) is an asset.
• Demonstrated interest in Holocaust history and education.
• Strong interpersonal skills and organized, creative approach.

• Thorough knowledge of best teaching practices and curriculum development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Outstanding presentation skills using visual and audio media.
• Experience creating lesson plans for literary arts, social studies or history.
• Ability to assess and adapt educational resources for diverse classroom settings.
