Early Childhood Educator

About the role

Seabird Island is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join its early learning programs. The role focuses on providing culturally safe, hands‑on childcare that supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development within a First Nations community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver developmentally and culturally appropriate activities that nurture children’s growth.
• Prepare meals and snacks while adhering to dietary and food‑safety guidelines.
• Supervise children directly, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.
• Maintain accurate health records, administer medication, and report accidents or safety concerns.
• Track attendance and comply with licensing regulations and mandatory reporting requirements.
• Engage families, fostering partnerships and encouraging parental involvement.
• Assist with field trips, enrichment activities, and daily centre operations.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and professional development.

Required profile

• Commitment to culturally safe practices and respect for Indigenous knowledge.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Early Childhood Education Team Lead.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with children, families and community members.
• Attention to detail for record‑keeping and compliance tasks.
