Early Childhood Assistant – Childcare Center

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant to join our vibrant childcare centre in Vancouver. You will work closely with early childhood educators to support the holistic development of infants, toddlers, and school‑age children.

Key responsibilities

• Assess each child's development and design individualized learning plans.
• Provide daily care including bathing, diapering, feeding, and supervising rest periods.
• Develop and implement programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth.
• Lead storytelling, song, and craft activities that encourage creativity.
• Prepare snacks, arrange rooms for meals and naps, and maintain a safe, clean environment.
• Observe and document signs of learning or behavioural challenges and report to parents and supervisors.
• Assist educators in record‑keeping, licensing compliance, and staff meetings.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of other assistants and early childhood educators when required.

Required profile

• College, CEGEP or equivalent 1‑2 year certificate/diploma in early childhood education or a related field.
• Current certifications: ECE Level 1 or Level 2, First Aid, CPR, and food‑allergy/anaphylaxis training.
• Ability to work in a non‑smoking, urban childcare centre.
• Flexibility for shift or on‑call work and immediate start date.

Required skills

• Knowledge of provincial licensing regulations for child‑care facilities.
• Strong observation and documentation abilities.
• Ability to plan and organize age‑appropriate activities.
• Effective communication with children, parents, and team members.
