Dispatcher – Logistics & Transportation

About the role

Day & Ross is seeking a dedicated Dispatcher to join its Brampton hub. You will be the central point for coordinating city unit pickups, deliveries, and truckload freight, ensuring drivers meet customer timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assign pick‑up requests, line‑haul orders, and appointment freight deliveries to trucks.
• Enter shipments into the system, manifest loads, and monitor expedited orders.
• Answer driver and customer calls, review yard checks, and ensure no freight is missed.
• Coordinate second‑round deliveries and daily pick‑and‑delivery requirements.
• Monitor driver performance, report findings to the Hub Manager, and suggest efficiency improvements.
• Perform clerical duties for compliance and broker payment processing.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2‑3 years of experience in transportation dispatch or dock supervision.
• Strong knowledge of the local geography.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule (Monday‑Friday, 1 pm‑9:30 pm).
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Experience using the Truckmate dispatch system.
