Director, Major Gifts

About the role

The Director, Major Gifts leads Canada Soccer Foundation’s major‑gifts program, developing and executing strategies to secure high‑value philanthropic support for the organization’s priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive major‑gifts strategy aligned with revenue targets and long‑term growth plans.
• Manage and actively solicit a portfolio of donors and prospects, focusing on gifts of $10,000 and larger, including six‑figure and transformational commitments.
• Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, closing, stewardship and renewal activities.
• Identify and develop new philanthropic relationships leveraging Canada Soccer’s national platform and stakeholder network.
• Prepare donor strategies, proposals, agreements, impact reports and other fundraising materials.
• Build and deepen long‑term relationships with major donors, corporate leaders, foundations and community champions.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, events, communications, finance and sport development teams to align donor engagement with organizational priorities.
• Ensure timely acknowledgement, recognition and impact reporting for major donors.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive fundraising or philanthropic development experience, including major‑gift portfolio management.
• Proven success securing five‑ and six‑figure gifts and building pipelines without prior relationships.
• Experience working with senior leaders, board members, volunteers and donors.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual English/French preferred.

Required skills

• Experience with CRM and donor management platforms.

• Annual salary range $80,000‑$120,000 CAD.
