Dietary Aide – Part‑time (Casual)

About the role

The Dietary Aide supports the daily meal service for residents and guests at Heritage Lodge, a long‑term care home operated by Extendicare. Working on a casual, part‑time basis, you will help ensure meals are prepared, served, and cleared in a courteous and safe manner.

Key responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests professionally and courteously.
• Assist with set‑up and preparation of beverages, salads, desserts, and other items.
• Set and clear dining tables, provide tray service, and clean dishware and cutlery after each seating.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
• Support catering for special occasions and themed events.
• Help orient and train new dietary staff.
• Follow health‑ and safety legislation, provincial regulations, and organizational policies.
• Respect resident rights and participate in staff meetings, in‑service training, and quality‑improvement programs.
• Uphold Extendicare’s Code of Conduct and work with vulnerable adults responsibly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Valid Food Handler's Certificate.
• Enrollment in or completion of a Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Previous experience in food service, especially with seniors, is preferred.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation.
• Physical ability to lift heavy, hot items and stand/walk for most of the shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
