Designer I – Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Sulzer is seeking a Designer I to join its Engineering Department at the Burnaby facility. The role supports the design and order processing of centrifugal pumps and related components, preparing layouts, calculations, drawings and documentation in line with customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings using CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, Medusa) for pump products.
• Maintain drawing control with Teamcenter and manage Bills of Materials in SAP.
• Interpret design requirements, perform calculations and stress analysis as needed.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to clarify design specifications.
• Assist in creating design reports, notes and other engineering documentation.
• Support special engineering tasks assigned by the supervisor and adhere to EHS policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Design Technology.
• 1–2 years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with product design, hydraulics and computer‑aided drafting.
• Experience with SAP and Teamcenter is an asset.
