Dental Assistant II – Faculty of Dentistry

About the role

The Dental Assistant II provides essential support to the Faculty of Dentistry’s clinical operations. Working in a fast‑paced environment, you will assist dental students chairside, manage instrument sterilization, and ensure the clinic runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Disinfect and sterilize dental instruments and supplies in the dispensary.
• Dispense materials to students and prepare for clinical demonstrations.
• Maintain cleanliness of cubicles, dispensaries, and lab areas.
• Perform four‑handed dentistry, especially with pediatric patients.
• Complete the orthodontic module offered by UBC Continuing Dental Education.
• Support the clinic and Central Sterilization area when graduate clinics are not in session.

Required profile

• IV sedation certification (or willingness to obtain CDAAC sedation certificate).
• Completion of the orthodontic module.
• Ability to use active restraint for children when necessary.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
