Dedicated Work Group Coordinator

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Power Generation team is expanding and seeks a Dedicated Work Group Coordinator (DWGC) to support the Holder of Record (HoR) in managing Work Protection Permits. The role is focused on tracking work, ensuring proper closure of tasks, and coordinating testing activities within the permit framework.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support to the Holder of Record (HoR) as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of all work performed under the Work Protection Permit by the assigned work group.
• Ensure all tasks are properly closed and dispositioned in the Work Management system before permit surrender.
• Assist the HoR with completing the Surrender Quality Hold Point (SQHP) record and summary.
• Maintain a Maintenance Log when required.
• Plan and coordinate testing actions, notifying other Holders of Record and Work Group Coordinators of scheduled tests, review requirements, lockout board activities, and pre‑test conditions.
• Support large, complex permits involving multiple trade groups, extensive testing, or intricate scope such as turbine or heat transport work.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a trade and at least 1 year in a coordination role within the nuclear industry.
• Competency in change orientation, effective communication, continuous learning, customer focus, accountability, problem solving, teamwork, and respect for others.
• Work Protection Qualification level 5 or higher (preferred) and general knowledge of LOTO programs and flow‑sheet reading.
• Familiarity with Excel, Passport, and OPG software is an asset.
• A trade certificate and a client security clearance are required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Passport software.
• Experience with OPG software.
• Knowledge of Work Protection Qualification (level 5) and LOTO procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret flow sheets.
• Trade certification relevant to the work group.
