Data Analyst – Power BI & Enterprise Data Analytics

About the role

The Government of Alberta – Environment & Protected Areas is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to support environmental monitoring and regulatory data initiatives. You will collaborate with technical teams, architects, and program stakeholders to validate data models, analyse complex datasets, and build analytics‑ready structures within a modern data management platform.

Key responsibilities

• Validate canonical data models and Unified Business Object structures using real‑world environmental and regulatory datasets.
• Analyse measurement comparability, unit normalization, data types and temporal consistency, and provide recommendations for data standardisation.
• Build exploratory analytical views and prototypes to test aggregation logic, trend analysis, and query scalability.
• Gather and document business and technical requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops and use‑case analysis.
• Design, develop and optimise advanced Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data analysis, business requirement analysis and data transformation within a regulated environment.
• Strong ability to work with technical teams, architects and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience creating analytical prototypes and validating data models for enterprise reporting.
