Crown Attorney

About the role

The Crown Attorney position is a full‑time, regular role within Manitoba Justice’s Prosecution Service, serving the northern communities of The Pas and Thompson, MB. The successful candidate will act as the Crown’s legal representative in criminal matters, ensuring the administration of justice in accordance with provincial and federal law.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, manage, and present criminal cases on behalf of the Crown in court.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and advise police and investigative agencies.
• Negotiate plea agreements and provide counsel on sentencing matters.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with procedural timelines.
• Participate in community outreach and uphold the principles of equitable justice.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Law Society of Manitoba.
• Law degree from an accredited university and admission to practice law in Canada.
• Demonstrated experience in criminal law, preferably within a public prosecution environment.
• Commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion as outlined by the Manitoba government.

• Competitive salary ranging from $97,800 to $196,424 per year.
