Crossing Guard

About the role

The Town of Whitby is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as Crossing Guards during the school year (September to June). You will help keep elementary school students safe as they cross streets near public and Catholic schools throughout the community.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise school crossings at and near designated schools.
• Assist elementary‑school students with safe crossing procedures.
• Monitor traffic flow and enforce safe behaviours for pedestrians and drivers.
• Report any incidents, hazards, or concerns to the Supervisor, School Crossing Guards.
• Promote the Town’s CARE values (Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) in daily interactions.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and ability to demonstrate the Town’s CARE core values.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Reliability and availability throughout the school year (September‑June).
• Commitment to safety and community service.
