Crime Analyst (Full-time)

About the role

The City of Nanaimo is hiring a permanent full‑time Crime Analyst to support investigative activities and municipal safety programs. Reporting to the Director of Police Support Services and working under the supervision of the NCO RCMP, the analyst will handle confidential research and data interpretation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret investigative and intelligence data to identify crime patterns and trends.
• Produce research reports that support criminal investigations and municipal projects.
• Maintain compliance with RCMP security, disclosure, and data‑quality standards.
• Present complex data findings to internal stakeholders.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring confidentiality.

Required profile

• University degree in criminology or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in analytical or statistical research.
• Successful completion of the EDCAS (RCMP E Division Criminal Analysis Section) Analyst Examination.
• Ability to obtain and maintain RCMP security clearance.
