Course Lecturer – Turbomachinery and Propulsion (MECH 535)

About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University seeks a contract lecturer for the Fall 2026 term to teach MECH 535 – Turbomachinery and Propulsion. The appointment involves preparing course materials, delivering lectures, evaluating student performance, and supporting teaching assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the course syllabus, lecture notes, and assessment tools.
• Deliver lectures according to the schedule (05:35 PM – 08:25 PM).
• Evaluate student work, assign grades, and submit attendance and grade reports.
• Supervise teaching assistants and other instructional support staff.
• Review and adjust student grades upon request.
• Hold office hours to answer student questions and provide academic guidance.

Required profile

• Minimum Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least three years of teaching experience or relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Understanding of cross‑cultural practices and a flexible teaching approach.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Expertise in turbomachinery and propulsion systems.
• Ability to design and deliver engineering course content.
• Experience supervising teaching assistants.
