Course Lecturer – Introduction to Philosophy of Religion (Fall 2026)

About the role

The School of Religious Studies at McGill University is seeking two course lecturers to teach RELG 341 – Introduction: Philosophy of Religion during the Fall 2026 term. This is a 3‑credit undergraduate course scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:05 pm‑5:25 pm, in Birks Building room 205.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures covering faith and reason, theistic arguments, values and destiny, the problem of evil, and religious language.
• Develop and submit a detailed course outline and syllabus that reflects the introductory nature of the subject.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.
• Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
• Collaborate with the School of Religious Studies on course logistics and academic standards.

Required profile

• Minimum of a Ph.D. in religious studies or advanced candidacy for a Ph.D.
• Demonstrated superior teaching ability, evidenced by prior teaching experience.
• Ability to propose a comprehensive course outline/syllabus.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
