Course Lecturer – Introduction to African Studies (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University is seeking a Course Lecturer to teach AFRI 200: Introduction to African Studies during the Fall 2026 term. This 3‑credit interdisciplinary course covers political conflict, governance, environment, economic development, public health, gender, culture, literature and the arts across Africa.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver weekly lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays (04:05 pm‑05:25 pm) in the STBIO S3/3 classroom.
  • Prepare and update course materials, reading lists, and assessment tools.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students throughout the term.

Required profile

  • PhD in a discipline relevant to African Studies.
  • Demonstrated previous teaching experience at the university level.
