Counter Customer Service Representative

About the role

The Counter Customer Service Representative (CCSR) delivers high‑level service to customers, handling inquiries and processing orders at the branch counter. This position supports both sales and warehouse functions while maintaining Graybar’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Sell merchandise over the counter and ensure every customer experience meets quality standards.
• Provide technical support on product selection and application.
• Maintain inventory controls, track stock‑out items and recommend new stock.
• Assist in the warehouse with receiving, picking and shipping products.
• Prepare orders by processing requests, pulling materials, packing boxes and placing orders in the delivery area.
• Keep work areas clean and safe, and participate in a rotational schedule for emergency after‑hours calls.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• 1–3 years of related warehouse or customer‑service experience in a distribution setting (preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 60 lb (light to moderate lifting).
• Excellent time‑management, organizational and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication, honesty and integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
