Co‑Op Student – Utilities Construction Internship

About the role

Join Black & McDonald as a Co‑Op Student in Utilities Construction and gain hands‑on experience while working alongside seasoned professionals. You will support project teams, learn industry best practices, and develop technical skills in a real‑world environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in maintenance and creation of project documentation such as safety records, material logs, change orders, quantities and productivity reports.
• Interpret project contract documents and drawings, and attend client meetings to understand requirements.
• Assist the Service Division in developing technical solutions and support equipment and material sourcing.
• Help with estimating tasks, including quantity take‑offs, invoicing, and preparing supporting documentation.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for information and pricing, and contribute to on‑site activities.

Required profile

• Positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning and a strong academic record.
• Available for a 4, 8 or 12‑month placement starting January 2027.
• Enrolled in or completed a degree/diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, Instrumentation engineering or related technology.
• Previous work or volunteer experience that demonstrates collaboration and growth mindset.
