About the role
The Student Housing & Hospitality Services team at McGill University is seeking a Cook's Helper to support food preparation during weekend shifts. This seasonal, part‑time role works under the direction of the Chef to ensure high‑quality meals for residents.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Chef in preparing a variety of menu items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations.
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Support inventory management by receiving and storing supplies.
- Collaborate with the dining hall team during busy service periods.
Required profile
- Diploma from an accredited culinary school OR high school diploma with at least three years of experience as a Cook’s Helper.
- Ability to read and write in English (or French).
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to work weekends.
Required skills
- Food preparation techniques.
- Operation of basic kitchen equipment.
- Understanding of food safety regulations.

- Hourly wage of $28.19 CAD.
