About the role
CARE Canada is seeking a Controller for its Financial Services function. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Finance, the Controller will ensure the integrity of financial records, maintain robust internal controls, and support the organization’s mission through sound financial stewardship.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily financial operations and transaction management.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely payments.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Manage the year‑end audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Prepare external financial statements in collaboration with senior finance leadership.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and nonprofit reporting requirements.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis activities as needed.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management or accounting.
- Knowledge of nonprofit, fund, and project‑based accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to CARE’s mission and values.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
Required skills
- Proficiency with PeopleSoft financial software.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
