Controller – Financial Operations Lead

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead financial operations for a growing organization in London, Ontario. The role will oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash management, and internal controls across multiple business units, partnering with operational leaders to drive insightful analysis and sound business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with operational and leadership teams to provide financial insight that supports profitability and performance improvement.
• Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rolling cash‑flow planning while monitoring liquidity and working‑capital needs.
• Review financial performance, explain variances, and identify cost‑management, pricing, and margin‑improvement opportunities.
• Oversee core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, and general‑ledger activities.
• Strengthen internal controls, promote consistent accounting policies, and manage intercompany processes.
• Support contract evaluation, deal analysis, and financial risk assessment.
• Coordinate year‑end activities, prepare working papers, and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.
• Drive improvements to financial systems, reporting structures, and process efficiency, including accounting‑tool implementation and optimization.
• Manage compliance activities such as government remittances and beer and spirits tax filings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation or equivalent recognized credential.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of finance or accounting staff.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cash‑flow management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with multiple entities, complex accounting environments, or diverse revenue streams.
