Controller / Finance Operations Lead

About the role

This position goes beyond a traditional controller function. You will own the finance and accounting organization while designing and implementing scalable financial systems, processes, and reporting for a fast‑growing global company. Working directly with the founders and senior leadership, you will turn finance into a strategic partner that delivers visibility, accountability, and confidence across all departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead finance and accounting across multiple business lines, including month‑end close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Build and maintain scalable financial systems, internal controls and processes to support rapid growth.
• Create executive dashboards, KPIs and reporting tools that improve decision‑making.
• Partner with leadership on financial planning, scenario modeling and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee accounting operations, payroll, AP/AR, banking relationships, tax compliance and external accounting partners.
• Improve financial visibility for operations, customer success, sales, media, technology and product teams.
• Evaluate and implement finance technology to increase automation, efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Support diverse revenue streams such as memberships, education, certifications, live events, consumer products, partnerships, licensing and media.
• Develop and grow the internal finance function as the organization expands.

Required profile

• CPA (US or Canadian) certification.
• 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including controller or senior finance roles.
• Background in high‑growth, entrepreneurial environments.
• Proven ability to build systems, improve processes and create financial structure.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, internal controls and multi‑entity operations.
• Comfortable partnering directly with founders and senior leadership.
• Excellent communicator who translates financial data into business decisions.
