Controller – Accounting Lead

About the role

ResQ is seeking a Controller to own the accounting function for its Canadian parent and U.S. subsidiaries. This high‑autonomy position will shape processes, ensure compliance, and provide critical financial insight as the company scales across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and consolidation across all entities.
• Lead the timely and accurate monthly and annual close processes.
• Drive P&L and margin analysis for service lines, including contractor economics and delivery costs.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, close procedures, and accounting systems (currently QuickBooks).
• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and cash flow across entities.
• Handle cross‑border tax compliance, including U.S. and Canadian filings and nexus research.
• Support financial planning, budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, and variance analysis for executive decision‑making.

Required profile

• CPA designation (CPA Canada, CPA US, or equivalent).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a Controller or senior accounting role.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, especially service‑related revenue recognition.
• Experience with multi‑entity, multi‑currency, cross‑border U.S.–Canada accounting and consolidation.
• Proven ability to build processes and controls from the ground up.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks; familiarity with modern platforms such as Rillet or Campfire is a plus.
• Knowledge of Looker or Omni reporting tools.
• Technical expertise in US GAAP, IFRS, and deferred revenue accounting.
