Construction Project Director

About the role

Reporting to the Construction Director, the Construction Project Director leads multiple multi‑storey projects valued at $20 million or more. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on site presence to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure overall performance of several projects (cost, schedule, quality, risk) and monitor KPIs bi‑monthly.
• Conduct structured weekly reviews with project managers and monthly reviews with senior management.
• Act as escalation point for major cost, deadline, or contractual issues.
• Maintain an active onsite presence with weekly site visits.
• Oversee budget monitoring, validate monthly cost reports and approve change‑order strategies.
• Lead or participate in high‑stakes contract negotiations and ensure billing compliance.
• Analyze, negotiate and approve subcontractor and supplier bids, contracts and extras.
• Coach, support and evaluate project managers, identifying training needs.
• Serve as primary client contact for major issues and foster proactive stakeholder relationships.
• Supervise risk management, non‑conformity handling and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Required profile

• Professional engineering degree or bachelor’s in construction engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in senior project management or construction site leadership.
• Proven ability to manage 2‑3 large projects simultaneously.
• Strong financial analysis capability and change‑management experience.
• Excellent communication, leadership and conflict‑resolution skills.
