Construction Group Manager – Canada

About the role

The Infrastructure & Corporate Citizenship (ICC) function at GM is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee construction project delivery across its Canadian portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Construction Group Manager will guide a team of project managers to deliver complex capital, infrastructure, renovation and workplace projects safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead execution of construction and facility capital projects across GM’s Canadian footprint, including manufacturing, non‑manufacturing, engineering and CCA‑related sites.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, direction and prioritisation for project managers and other resources supporting the Canada portfolio.
• Ensure projects comply with GM safety policies, regulatory and permitting requirements.
• Oversee project performance across scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Escalate issues early and drive resolution of project, contractor, site and stakeholder challenges.
• Coach, develop and retain a high‑performing team, handling performance management, workload balancing and succession planning.
• Translate broader Construction and ICC priorities into clear objectives for the Canada team.
• Establish operating rhythms, clear roles and disciplined follow‑through to improve accountability and execution.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in construction and capital project delivery, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proven people‑leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop high‑performing teams.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and communication abilities in a matrixed organisation.
• Sound business judgement and the capacity to align projects with corporate priorities.
• Ability to operate safely and ensure regulatory compliance.
