Connection Design Engineer – Winnipeg & Remote

About the role

JMT Consultants is seeking a Connection Design Engineer to join its fast‑growing team in Winnipeg, with the flexibility to work remotely. You will design steel and concrete connections, support project managers, and contribute to the successful delivery of new projects from concept through completion.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for steel connections on CISC and AISC projects.
• Develop calculations, shop drawing reviews, submittals, RFIs, and new efficiency‑enhancing calculations.
• Utilize analysis software such as Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Idea Statica, and review 3‑D BIM models in Trimble Connect and Revit.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure accurate detailing in Tekla and markup reviews in Bluebeam.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering (Master’s a plus).
• 2+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably with steel connections.
• PE (P.Eng.) certification is an asset.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and ability to travel to the USA.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Tekla Structures for detailing.
• Experience with Bluebeam for mark‑ups and reviews.
• Knowledge of Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Idea Statica, Excel, Trimble Connect, and Revit.
• Strong understanding of relevant building codes, materials, and standards.
