Communications Officer (PFT)

About the role

The Norfolk County Council is seeking a Communications Officer (PFT) to create and deliver clear, accessible communications across both digital and print channels. You will support County programs, services and priorities while helping maintain a consistent, trusted public image.

Key responsibilities

• Create flyers, brochures, posters, reports and digital content for the website, social media, email newsletters and other channels.
• Ensure all communications meet timelines, follow the team’s business plan and align with County goals.
• Prepare and distribute service disruption notices, news updates and other public information using established processes.
• Produce content that complies with AODA and plain‑language standards, reviewing and editing for clarity and accuracy.
• Support public‑engagement campaigns, surveys and community initiatives with tailored materials.
• Collect and track performance metrics such as web and social‑media analytics for reporting.
• Schedule and post content across corporate channels, monitor social‑media comments and follow approval procedures.
• Maintain communication records in accordance with records‑management policies.

Required profile

• Two‑year college diploma in communication, media studies, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accessible content for diverse audiences.
• Experience following corporate standards, templates and approval processes.
