Communications and Digital Engagement Specialist

About the role

The Communications and Digital Engagement Specialist will support the UBC Centre for Disease Control (UBC CDC) by placing science at the heart of public‑health action. The role leads the creation and delivery of strategic communications, digital storytelling and engagement programmes that raise the profile and impact of UBC CDC research, training and knowledge‑mobilisation activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement external and internal communications strategies that align with UBC CDC research and public‑health priorities.
• Manage communications projects, including timelines, budgets, progress monitoring and final reporting.
• Ensure all communications follow UBC brand guidelines and institutional protocols.
• Translate complex scientific and public‑health findings into clear, accessible content for policymakers, practitioners, community groups and the general public.
• Create, edit and maintain a variety of communications platforms and materials such as web content, newsletters, social‑media posts and digital stories.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in strategic communications and digital engagement, preferably in a research or public‑health environment.
• Strong ability to convey scientific information to diverse audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing project budgets and timelines.

• Familiarity with social‑media platforms and web publishing tools.
