Co-op Researcher – Machine Learning, Speech & Audio AI

About the role

The position is an 8‑12 month co‑op within Huawei Canada's Noah’s Ark Laboratory, focusing on cutting‑edge research in speech and audio artificial intelligence. You will work under supervision alongside senior researchers and other co‑op researchers to advance state‑of‑the‑art technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop state‑of‑the‑art speech and audio AI technologies.
• Conduct literature reviews, implement algorithms, and perform data collection and analysis.
• Apply deep‑learning and signal‑processing techniques to speech and audio tasks.
• Document, present, and publish research results in internal and external venues.
• Collaborate with senior researchers and multidisciplinary team members to integrate findings into Huawei products.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and software development skills.
• Previous internship experience with C++ and Python development.
• Understanding of deep learning and classic machine‑learning methods.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
