Co-op Researcher – LLM Reasoning

About the role

Huawei Canada is looking for a Co‑op Researcher to join the Noah’s Ark Lab’s LLM reasoning and agent research projects. The role involves implementing algorithms, deploying models into internal products, and collaborating closely with the research team.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in innovative LLM reasoning and LLM‑empowered agent research projects.
• Implement algorithms for proposed models and applications, and deploy them into internal products.
• Work closely with researchers in the team to advance project goals.
• Stay up‑to‑date on selected areas of machine learning and produce insight and technical reports.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a senior Bachelor or Master’s program in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Good knowledge of deep‑learning components (training, regularization, generalization) and familiarity with common architectures such as Transformers, LSTM, and GNN.
• Experience in training or inference using Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Experience applying machine‑learning models to real‑world applications.
• Strong coding skills in Python and experience with PyTorch.
• Experience in parallel model training is a plus.
• Familiarity with HuggingFace and DeepSpeed is an asset.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are an asset.
• Must be enrolled in a co‑op program and registered for an official co‑op work term for the full employment period.
