Co-op Researcher – Agentic AI

About the role

Huawei Canada's Noah’s Ark Laboratory is seeking a co‑op researcher to advance agentic AI. The role focuses on creating data‑efficient AI agents that can quickly adapt to novel environments with minimal interaction. You will work on cutting‑edge architectures, meta‑learning strategies, and reinforcement‑learning algorithms.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a small team of junior and senior researchers on frontier AI agent projects.
• Conduct large‑scale training runs of deep learning models and deploy multi‑component agent pipelines.
• Design experiments and evaluation protocols to test new ideas efficiently.
• Develop custom analyses to diagnose issues and interpret results.
• Communicate findings to the team and propose next steps for improvement.
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and help shape research directions.
• Assist in writing academic papers and technical reports, and run supporting experiments.
• Stay up‑to‑date by reading recent machine‑learning publications relevant to the project.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning principles such as training, regularization, and generalization.
• Strong coding skills in Python, especially with PyTorch for building ML models and pipelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Enrolled in a co‑op program and available for the full official co‑op work term.
