Civil/Structural Engineer – Utilities & Industrial Projects

About the role

Spark Power is seeking a hands‑on Civil/Structural Engineer to join its Hamilton team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will develop and stamp structural engineering packages for utility, commercial and industrial construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and design concrete and steel structural elements, including substation A‑frames, bus structures, pipe racks, cable tray supports, piles, foundations and oil‑containment systems.
• Design and install E‑House foundations and structural framing.
• Support RFPs and bid submissions with engineering hour estimates and material take‑offs.
• Prepare and review fabrication and shop drawings, including E‑House fabrication drawings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cost‑effective, constructible designs.
• Participate in procurement, permitting and subcontracting activities.
• Perform and self‑check engineering calculations.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers, reviewing their work products.
• Provide engineering support during construction and installation.

Required profile

• P.Eng licence.
• 5–10 years of civil and structural engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Canadian design codes.
