Casual Residential Youth Worker – Support Vulnerable Youth

About the role

Join BGC Okanagan’s team as a casual Residential Youth Worker supporting youth at Penny Lane, a short‑term, low‑barrier stabilization home for young people facing homelessness, family conflict, mental health concerns, substance use and other high‑risk challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with youth and support individualized, strength‑based plans.
• Teach socially appropriate behaviours through daily routines and activities.
• Monitor safety and wellbeing of residents, providing behaviour‑management counselling and crisis intervention.
• Assist with personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration and household tasks.
• Maintain accurate reports, logbooks and daily activity records.
• Coordinate communication between the group home, schools, families and community services.
• Accompany youth to appointments and community outings, and participate in on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• Diploma in a related human or social service field.
• At least two years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Successful completion of agency screening, including criminal record checks.
• Union membership is required.
