Casual Residence Worker – Emergency Youth Shelter

About the role

BGC Okanagan is seeking casual Residence Workers for its Emergency Youth Shelter located in the Downtown Youth Centre. You will provide direct support to youth, ensuring their physical, emotional, social, educational, housing, and medical needs are met while helping them develop essential life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in case management and care planning, conduct assessments, set goals, and assist with Personal Service Plans (PSPs) for residents.
• Provide life‑skills training such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care, and financial management.
• Transport and support residents to appointments, shopping, and leisure activities.
• Promote safety, respond to emergencies, manage aggressive behaviours, and report incidents.
• Administer or monitor client medications and, if trained, provide Naloxone (NARCAN) in emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, case notes, and incident reports.

Required profile

• Certificate in a related human or social services field.
• Minimum of one year recent, relevant experience.
• Successful completion of the agency’s screening process, including a criminal record check.
