Casual Pharmacist – Mental Health Centre

About the role
The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre is seeking a Casual Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team. This role supports the delivery of safe, effective medication management for patients receiving mental health care across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate drug distribution with pharmacy staff to ensure accurate, timely medication flow from procurement to dispensing.
- Lead and mentor pharmacy team members, providing coaching and preceptorship for learners.
- Participate in continuous quality‑improvement initiatives aligned with Ontario College of Pharmacists standards and Accreditation Canada criteria.
- Engage in medication reconciliation, develop medication care plans, and contribute to interdisciplinary team rounds.
- Disseminate drug information, conduct formulary and drug‑use evaluations, and support policy or process development.
- Provide on‑call coverage during evenings and weekends as part of a rotational schedule.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or entry‑level Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from a recognised university.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Ability to coach, lead, and mentor pharmacy staff and learners.

Required skills
- Knowledge of Ontario College of Pharmacists standards, NAPRA and CSHP guidelines.
- Experience with medication reconciliation, drug information dissemination, and formulary review.
- Strong collaboration skills with healthcare professionals and patient‑care units.
