Casual Cleaner

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Cleaner will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across multiple CMHA Kenora locations. The role supports infection‑control standards and the dignity of individuals accessing mental‑health services. Regular hours are Monday‑Friday with varying start times.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all CMHA policies and procedures, including health‑and‑safety and infection‑control guidelines.
• Perform scheduled cleaning tasks at the Emergency Shelter, Safe Bed Program, Supportive Housing, and Main Office, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, waste removal, and deep‑cleaning washrooms.
• Handle seasonal duties such as winter shoveling of walkways and cleaning of exterior areas.
• Communicate any building‑maintenance issues to the Operations Coordinator.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and required training sessions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed tasks and shift responsibilities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal communication.
• Cultural competence and understanding of trauma‑informed practice.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and capacity for physically demanding tasks.
• Knowledge of infection‑control guidelines and safe‑work procedures.
• First aid & CPR/AED, mental‑health first aid, or willingness to obtain.
• Valid G‑class driver’s licence.
