Cashier – Front End

About the role

Join Safeway’s front‑end team in Airdrie as a Cashier, delivering friendly and professional service to grocery shoppers. You will handle transactions, maintain an accurate cash drawer and support a positive store environment. As the first point of contact, you will ensure a smooth checkout experience and uphold Safeway’s standards of service.

Key responsibilities

• Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain an accurate cash drawer in line with company policies.
• Operate the Customer Service Desk for lottery sales, refunds, bottle returns and inquiries.
• Keep the front‑end merchandise area organized and stocked.
• Assist in training junior staff members.
• Support other departments as needed.
• Adhere to all applicable company standards and policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of the checkout area.

Required profile

• Basic numeracy skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
