Carpenter – Construction Specialist

About the role

DC Contracting is seeking a skilled carpenter to join its construction team in Mission, BC. The role involves hands‑on work building and renovating a variety of wooden structures while adhering to safety and code standards.

Key responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub‑flooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residential and commercial wooden structures.

Required profile

• No formal degree, certificate or diploma required.
• 2–3 years of hands‑on carpentry experience.
• Physically demanding work involving bending, crouching and kneeling.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Accurate measuring and layout preparation.
• Cutting, shaping and joining various building materials.
• Installation of windows, doors, stairs and mouldings.
• Ability to work to building‑code standards.
