Career Development Specialist

About the role

The Career Development Specialist supports UBC Okanagan students in becoming career‑ready graduates. Using career development theories, ethics and a range of tools, the role designs and delivers programs that connect students with career‑building opportunities both on‑ and off‑campus.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and evaluate in‑person and web‑based career development workshops, events, and resources for students and alumni.
• Provide one‑to‑one and group career counseling to undergraduate, graduate and alumni audiences.
• Build and maintain partnerships with campus units such as Faculty, Student Development, International Programs, Aboriginal Programs, Health & Wellness, Accessibility, Enrolment Services and student organizations.
• Establish and nurture relationships with current and prospective employers to create career‑focused resources and experiential learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with the AVP Students portfolio and faculty colleagues to align services with academic and professional development needs.

Required profile

• Understanding of career development theories, principles, ethics and related modalities.
• Experience delivering career‑related programs, workshops or counseling services.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse campus partners and external employers.
• Strong communication skills for individual and group guidance.
