About the role

The Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Environment, Climate Resilience, and the Arctic is a tenure‑track faculty position at McGill University. The chairholder will lead a world‑leading research programme that addresses critical environmental challenges and contributes to Canada’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute ambitious, transformative research projects in climate resilience, Arctic science, and related environmental fields.
• Build and manage high‑performing, interdisciplinary research teams.
• Collaborate with academic, industry, governmental, and community partners across sectors and borders.
• Translate research outcomes into commercial applications, policy recommendations, and societal benefits.
• Mentor and train the next generation of highly qualified personnel.

Required profile

• Internationally based researcher with a recent track record of outstanding research achievements.
• Demonstrated interest in contributing to Canada’s environmental and climate objectives.
• Eligibility for a tenure‑track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (with promotion to Full Professor within two years) or Full Professor.
• Willingness to commence the position within 12 months of award acceptance.
