Buyer – Procurement Specialist (Montreal)

About the role

ABB is looking for a proactive Buyer to join its Power Reliability division in Montreal. You will be responsible for purchasing materials that meet technical specifications, price, and delivery requirements while supporting the company’s lean and clean manufacturing goals.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and manage Purchase Orders in SAP based on requisitions and corporate procedures.
• Confirm deliveries, monitor supplier performance, and expedite open, delayed, emergency, or long‑lead‑time orders.
• Communicate any delivery date changes to internal stakeholders.
• Develop and execute procurement plans, coordinating with operations and production teams.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with the category team.
• Maintain alignment with SCM standards, tools, and processes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of procurement or supply‑chain experience in manufacturing of electrical and mechanical assemblies.
• Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Fluent in English and French, with regular communication to customers outside Quebec.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems – SAP.
• Experience using procurement platforms – SAP Ariba.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros).
• Familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Power BI.
