Building Handyman / Handwoman

About the role

S.T.E.P Contractors Ltd is seeking a reliable building handyman or handwoman to support residential construction projects across Edmonton. You will work on various sites, handling repairs, maintenance, and minor renovations with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Contact subcontractors to arrange repairs and routine maintenance.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies safely.
• Perform painting, drywall taping, patching, and finishing tasks.
• Assist and coordinate with tilesetters, floor‑covering installers, carpenters, and drywall finishers.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to WHMIS guidelines.

Required profile

• 2 to 3 years of hands‑on experience in construction or maintenance.
• Physically capable of bending, crouching, kneeling and lifting heavy items.
• Own set of tools and steel‑toed safety boots.
• WHMIS certification.
• Experience with surface preparation, especially drywall taping/patching.

Required skills

• Use of power tools.
• Drywall taping and patching.
• Operation of carpentry/woodworking machinery.
• Finishing techniques for interior surfaces.
