Backend Engineer

About the role

Cambio is a fast‑growing startup that helps commercial real‑estate owners achieve net‑zero portfolios with an AI‑driven sustainability platform. We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build robust services, support teammates, and enjoy the process.

Key responsibilities

• Launch customer‑facing features by building Django backend services.
• Improve the customer experience through performance optimizations.
• Reduce technical debt to enhance the engineering team’s quality of life.
• Support and collaborate with teammates across the organization.

Required skills

• Strong Python development experience, especially with Django (Ninja a plus).
• Solid grasp of computer‑science fundamentals and algorithms.
• Excellent research and debugging abilities.
• Understanding of technical trade‑offs and the YAGNI principle.
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Redis, PostgreSQL, SQS, CDK, GitHub, Retool, Celery.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and LLM services such as AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Claude.
