Associate Professor / Professor – Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto seeks a full‑time tenure‑stream faculty member in Artificial Intelligence, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, to begin on July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will also be eligible for the five‑year, renewable Hinton Chair in Artificial Intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an internationally recognized, externally funded research program in AI.
• Lead innovative, independent research projects and publish in top‑ranked journals and conferences.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop new curricula, and supervise graduate students.
• Contribute to departmental service, academic leadership, and community outreach.
• Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion within the department and the broader university.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of high‑impact research and scholarly publications.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• International reputation with strong references from senior scholars.
• Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
