Associate Director, Continuing Professional Development

About the role

The Associate Director, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) leads key initiatives that support UBC’s CPD mandate within the Faculty of Medicine. Reporting to the Director, CPD and the Associate Dean, CPD, this senior role drives strategic partnership engagement, business development, accreditation, and program standards across multiple portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for national and international CPD initiatives.
• Manage accreditation processes and ensure program standards are met.
• Lead partnership engagement activities to expand the reach and sustainability of CPD programs.
• Supervise assigned staff and provide mentorship to a large, cross‑functional team.
• Coordinate cross‑portfolio alignment to promote shared practices and collaborative planning.
• Oversee business development efforts and support the creation of new CPD offerings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior leadership or management within an academic or professional development environment.
• Strong understanding of accreditation standards and program quality assurance.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supervising staff and fostering cross‑functional collaboration.
